Three places retirees
keep their savings.

Each serves a different purpose. Consider what you need this portion of your money to do.

Wall StreetOpportunity for growth
Stocks, bonds and investment funds can play a role in retirement. Their values can fluctuate, and market losses may be especially concerning when you’re already retired.
BanksFamiliar savings options
Bank savings accounts and CDs offer familiar ways to save. Eligible deposits at FDIC-insured banks have protection subject to applicable limits; CDs can provide fixed interest rates for specified terms.
Insurance companiesContractual guarantees
Fixed annuities can provide guaranteed interest rates for defined periods. They are insurance contracts, not FDIC-insured deposits, and their guarantees depend on the issuing insurer.

What is a MYGA?

A Multi-Year Guaranteed Annuity is an insurance contract that guarantees a specified interest rate for a defined period. Its contractual rate is not tied to stock market performance.

You may be able to choose a 3-, 5-, 7- or 10-year term, depending on the product, your age, your state and the insurer. A longer term is not automatically the better choice.

Understand what you’re committing to.

  • Keep money you may need soon accessible.
  • Review withdrawal restrictions, surrender charges and any contract adjustments.
  • Ask about tax consequences and what happens when the guaranteed period ends.
  • Consider the insurer’s financial strength and claims-paying ability.

Contract terms matter as much as the interest rate.

could change the numbers.

Choose an amount and enter an annual interest rate to compare four time frames. This calculator uses your assumptions, not current insurer quotes.

Illustration only. The same assumed rate is compounded annually over 3, 5, 7 and 10 years, with no additional deposits or withdrawals. Taxes, fees, surrender charges and contract adjustments are excluded. Actual contract values and rates may differ; these examples do not establish product availability or predict your results.

A useful comparison starts with your savings amount, time frame and the money you need to keep available.

Mark can help you explore:

  • Verified rates and terms available from selected insurers.
  • Illustrative interest and ending values for the amount you’re considering.
  • Important differences in access to your money and contract provisions.

Your age and state may affect available options. A conversation comes before any personalized comparison; this is not an instant report or a commitment to move money.

No obligation to purchase. No detailed account information is needed to start asking questions.

MYGAs are insurance contracts, not bank deposits or FDIC-insured products. Guarantees depend on the issuing insurer’s financial strength and claims-paying ability. Early withdrawals may result in surrender charges, contract adjustments and tax consequences. Rates, terms and product availability vary by age, state, insurer and contract. This is educational information, not individualized investment, tax or legal advice.
